Collected from the upper reaches of wild tea trees in northern Vietnam.
Nibbled and naturally oxidised by insects while on the trees, the leaves in these bundles are a blend of oolong, red and white tea styles.
Some are more bruised and bitten than others, but all are large and full of life. We found them in a tea house during our hikes through the mountains north of Sapa, Vietnam.
Picked, bundled and dried in the shade, these bunches offer a way to savour the splendour of wild trees and nature’s wondrous process of oxidation, aided by insects.
The leaves are subtly red in body and gently earthy, like a roasted oolong. When brewed slowly, they are reminiscent of an aged white tea.
