Synchrony - Oolong ( 乌龙茶)

A special find that only moments of Synchrony can bring.
We stumbled onto this beautiful tea on our 2024 journey through China. In Dali we met with a friend of a friend from Australia who took us on a journey to the mountains near the city. a long drive to gate, followed by a long walk to a run down van where we hoped in the back to meet the tea master that lived on the mountain. we drove up to his tea growth, plucked leaves and laughed with the new friend where he showed us this tea. A Taiwanese varietal of Tea plant that he had brought over from his home in Taiwan when he moved to Dali. After growing the plants for 20 years he started to harvest them and create Oolongs on the land. Its unheard of to grow Oolong tea in Yunnan let along Dali but this tea master was a one off.

These beautiful leaves have been rolled and charcoal roasted lightly to perfection, balancing sweet roasted nuts and a perfume that fills the mouth. A beautiful moment and a wonderful tea to remember it by.
